“Christmas Eve means family gatherings, sampling Guinness porter cake and festive drinks before admiring Christmas lights. In our house, the aroma of Christmas ham fills the air. We track Santa while enjoying Baileys and Belgian hot chocolate. The children unwrap a gift (the other gifts wait until the next day!) and we start preparing for Christmas Day.
Our Christmas dinner includes homemade soup, a variety of breads, and a sumptuous spread: turkey, ham, an assortment of potatoes, honey-roasted veggies, and a symphony of flavours drowned in gravy! Dessert is usually a homemade apple and blackberry crumble – a true delight with custard.”
Nicole, Administrative Assistant, Germany
“My family and I have a wonderful Christmas tradition: we gather for Mexican cuisine on Christmas Eve with German beer, while I indulge in my favourite white wine.
For New Year’s, I will visit a friend in Bavaria. Our evening plans include savouring raclette at her place, accompanied by prosecco, wine, or Bavarian beer, and a lot of dancing! The morning after, we’ll relish a typical Bavarian white sausage breakfast, complete with alcohol-free wheat beer. But, you won’t catch us having breakfast before 10:00am—because, as Bavarian tradition goes, those sausages are meant to be enjoyed before the clock strikes 12!“
Bruno, Relationship Manager, France
“I typically spend the holidays at home, cherishing Christmas with my family on the evening of the 24th and enjoying a grand dinner! Our menu kicks off with liver pâté, a sumptuous seafood platter, and delightful smoked salmon. Then comes the main course—either turkey or capon—followed by a classic Yule log for dessert.
On the 25th, we gather again, this time for a slightly cozier lunch, often hosted at my place. As for New Year’s Eve, we switch things up each year, celebrating with friends in varied locations or settings.”
Dagmar, Procurement Manager, The Netherlands
“I’m excited about the holidays! Christmas will be spent with family, filled with shared cooking, and carefully paired wines to complement our menu. There will be an abundance of delicious cheeses and fresh veggies! New Years’ Eve will be celebrated with friends, gathering around a bonfire, savouring uncomplicated yet delightful dishes!”
Gwen, Relationship Manager, Belgium
“Christmas is all about family time, long walks, and rest! For years, our holiday gatherings have been a delightful surprise at different locations, featuring a diverse range of dishes—from assorted cold and hot bites to three-course meals and even sandwiches. This year, with a sizable group, we’re going for appetizers and pulled pork sandwiches. We gather in a large group, so we are keeping it casual!”
